Suggested pattern for Square Pillow
For a 14-inch square pillow you will need approximately 7 balls of J. & P. Coats "Speed-Cro-Sheen" with Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
SIDE (Make 2) … Starting at bottom, make a chain 16 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 14 inches, having a number of sc divisible by 4 and 1 more at end of row. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in first sc, * skip 2 sc, tr in next sc, working behind tr make sc in the first skipped sc, make 3 sc in loop just formed by tr, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in first sc, * then, working behind the sc loop make 3 dc in next sc, sc in sc between sc loops. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Sc in first sc, * skip 2 dc, tr in next dc, working behind tr, make sc in skipped dc, 3 sc in loop just formed by tr, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: Sc in first sc, * then, working behind next loop, make 3 dc in next dc, sc in sc between loops. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 4th and 5th rows alternately until piece is square, ending with 4th row. Break off. Complete as for Blue Square Pillow pattern.
