J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN" METALLIC, Art. A.64: 6 balls of No. M.1 White.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
A foam rubber pillow, 14 inches square.
2 large button molds.
SIDE (Make 2) … Starting at bottom with 1 strand each of "Speed-Cro-Sheen" and "Knit-Cro-Sheen" make a chain 16 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 14 inches, having a number of sc divisible by 3. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in first sc, * insert hook in base of same sc and draw a loop through, skip next sc, sc in base of next sc and draw up a loop, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (long joint sc made), sc in top of same sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 14 inches. Sc closely around all edges. Join and break off. Sew pieces together around 3 sides, insert pillow and sew remaining side.
BUTTON (Make 2) … Starting at center with 2 strands of "Knit-Cro-Sheen," ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (1 sc increased). Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 6 sc evenly around. Repeat 4th rnd until piece covers button. Next rnd: Sc in each sc, decreasing 6 sc evenly around—to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc—insert button. Repeat last rnd 4 more times. Sew up opening. Sew a button to each side of pillow at center.
