A gold parchment lampshade, 16 inches in diameter across top; 18 inches in diameter across bottom and 12 inches in depth.
GAUGE: 2 blocks make 1 inch; 7 rnds make 2 inches.
BORDER … Starting at lower edge with Robinette, ch 452 to measure 57½ inches. Sl st in first chain made, being careful not to twist chain. 1st rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in each ch around. Join to first sc. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds: Sc in each sc around. Join. Drop Robinette at end of 4th rnd and hold in back of work.
Attach Mid Rose and work in pattern as follows: 1st rnd: Ch 3, 2 dc in same place as sl st, * skip 3 sc, 3 dc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch-3. Drop Mid Rose and hold in back of work. 2nd rnd: Pick up Robinette, sl st in last sp of previous rnd (between blocks), ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, 3 dc in each sp around. Join. Drop Robinette. 3rd rnd: Pick up Mid Rose and work as for 2nd rnd. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rnds alternately until 11 rnds of pattern have been completed. Divide last rnd in 4 equal parts and mark with pins. 12th rnd: * Work in pattern to within sp preceding next marker, dc in sp, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc make dc in same sp, dc in next sp, thread over and draw through all loops on hook, dc in same sp where last dc was made (a block decreased), block in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join. Work in pattern for 10 more rnds. Next rnd: Work as for 12th rnd but do not have decreases directly over previous decreases. Repeat last 11 rnds once more. There are 101 blocks on rnd. Continue to work in pattern until 41 pattern rnds in all have been completed. Break off Mid Rose at end of last rnd.
BORDER … 1st rnd: * With Robinette sc in next 2 dc, sc in next sp, skip first dc of next block. Repeat from * around. Join to first sc. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds: Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds of Border at lower edge. Join and break off at end of 4th rnd.
