COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MER­CERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 11 balls of No. 10-A Canary Yellow and 8 balls of No. 1 White.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

A foam rubber pillow, 22½ x 15 x 3 inches.

GAUGE: 5 sts make 1 inch; 2 stripes make 2 inches.

   Starting at long side with Canary Yellow, make a chain slightly longer than pillow. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * dc in next ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across until row measures same as pillow, ending with an sc. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in first sc, * dc around bar of dc 2 rows below (raised dc made), skip sc behind raised dc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 4th to 7th rows incl: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately 2 more times. At end of 7th row, draw a loop of White through last loop on hook, thus changing color. Turn. 8th to 13th rows incl: With White, repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately 3 times. Change color at end of 13th row. 14th to 21st rows incl: With Yellow repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately 4 times. Change color at end of 21st row. Repeat 8th to 21st rows incl until piece measures same width as pillow, ending with 21st row. Break off. Make another piece the same way.

GUSSET … Starting at long side work as for cover until 3 stripes have been completed. Break off. Make another piece the same way. Then make 2 pieces the same width as narrow end of pillow

Sew narrow ends of Gusset pieces together, alter­nating long and short pieces. Holding Gusset and one side of pillow together and working through both thicknesses to join, attach Yellow to any corner and sc closely around. Join and break off. Insert pillow and join other side to Gusset the same way. Join and break off.
