With double thread of Linen, make a chain about 33 inches long. 1st row: Make a group-st in 4th ch from hook (to make group-st, * thread over hook, insert hook in st, draw loop through. Repeat from * once more. Thread over and draw through all 5 loops). ** Ch 1, skip 1 ch, group-st in next ch. Repeat from ** across, ending row with d c in same place as last group-st. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Group-st in d c (increase), * ch 1, group-st in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across, ending row with group-st in turning ch-3, ch 1, group-st and d c in same place (another increase). This completes 1 stripe. Drop Linen; attach 2 strands of Autumn Glow. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Repeat 2nd row. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Decrease 1 group-st at both ends of row. (To decrease, work 1st part of group-st in 1st ch-1 sp, then complete same group-st by working into 2nd ch-1 sp.) * Ch 1, group-st in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with group-st in last ch-1 sp, and d c in turning ch-3. This completes 2nd stripe. Drop Autumn Glow; pick up Linen. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: Same as 4th row. 6th row: Group-st in 1st ch-1 sp, * ch 1, group-st in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across, ending row with group-st in turning ch-3, d c in same place. Break off.

Border. With 1 strand of Autumn Glow, ch 9, turn. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. Hereafter, pick up only the back loop of each s c. 2nd row: S c in each s c across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 28 inches. Break off. Make another piece same as this, and sew 1 to each long side of belt. Then make 4 more strips which are sewed to shaped ends of belt, working as follows: Ch 2, turn. S c in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 2 s c in 1st s c, s c in turning ch. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row, increasing 1 s c at 1 side only on each row until there are 6 s c in the row. Work straight until short edge measures 1 inch. Then decrease 1 s c each row at same side as increases were made until 2 s c remain. Break off.

Make 3 more pieces same as this, and sew 2 to each shaped end of belt. Sew on snap fasteners.
