Towel Edging Pattern, No. 8187

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton, 1 ball of a dark color.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 4.

Make a chain to measure same length as width of towel. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: S c in each s c across. Ch 2, turn. Repeat 2nd row for 3 inches. Break off. Fold work back 1½ inches, and hem to towel. Work opposite end to correspond.

Trimming Motif. Vertical Strips: Ch 25, turn. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows: S c in each s c across, ch 1, turn. After 4th row, break off. Work another piece same as this.

Triangles: Ch 10, turn. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Ch 3 (to count as d c), d c in each of next 2 s c, half d c in next s c, s c in next s c, sl st across to within last s c, turn. 3rd row: Sl st to s c of previous row, s c across. Break off. Make another piece like this.

Circles: Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 1, 10 s c in ring. Join and break off. Make 3 more circles same as this.

Sew pieces onto towel as in illustration.
